Marie has been writing songs and singing since her pre-teen years. After performing in her family group, Whitestone Bridge
and singing at dances and Legion Halls in her hometown of London, Ontario, she signed with Mercury Brothers' MBS
Records Label in 1978. She pursued a solo career, releasing two albums and on MBS and an additional three albums after being
signed to RCA Records. Many of the songs on these albums were original songs written by Bottrell. Her debut song,
Just Reach Out and Touch Me, album featured 4 songs, which she composed including the title track, which
became the first of her twenty nationally-charted hit singles.
Marie was inducted into The Canadian Country Music Hall of Fame in 2000 and continues to perform stages around the world
today.
Marie has earned numerous Juno and Big Country award nominations, winning RPM's Big Country Award in 1983 for
Female Vocalist of the Year. She was named the Canadian Country Music Association's Female Vocalist of the Year in
1983 and 1984, as well as being the Inaugural Winner of the Female Vocalist of the Year in the 1983
Country Music News Fan Awards, an honor repeated in 1984.
Marie charted 20-plus singles on Canadian Country Charts. Marie performed and teamed with many Canadian Artists and
provided supporting vocals on releases by some of Canada's top country recording artists.
Marie Bottrell will hit the stage at the 2024 Opry North Country Music Festival, June 6th to 8th, 2024 at the Stirling Ontario Fairgrounds.
