Meet Donny Parenteau, an overnight country music sensation from Prince Albert, Saskatchewan. Sixteen years in the making, Donny is a full circle story that film makers crave while his fans applaud for more. He raised a bow to the fiddle in 1981 and mastered the intricate technique of the fiddle through self-taught methods. His musical versatlility expanded to also playing mandolin, acoustic and electric guitar and double neck mando-caster/electric guitar. Added to the mix, he became superior in singing and writing and can sing country classics to blues to easy rock. Her are the many career highlites to date:


* Performed with US singer Neal McCoy for 12 years, touring North America doing over 300 shows a year. The band opened for many famous country artists like, Garth Brooks, Merle Haggard, Buck Owens, George Jones, Charlie Pride, Reba McEntire, Tim McGraw and the list goes on.

* He returned to Canada in 2003, to where it all began. He began writing songs and wrote enough material for 2 albums.

*From 2003 to 2006, he was awarded 7 Saskatchewan Country Music Association awards

* He was nominated at the 2005 Canadian Aboriginal Music Awards for Producer of the Year and at the 2006 CCMA Awards, he was nominated for Fiddle Player of the Year.

* In 2007, Donny was nominated for 10 Saskatchewan Country Music Association Awards and won 5 for Aboriginal Artist of The Year-All-Star Band (fiddle)-All-Star Band (specialty)-Back-up Band and Producer of the year with Steve Fox.

*In 2007, Donny is nominated for Chevy Rising Star at the Canadian Music Awards taking place in Regina, Sask. on September 10/07

*In 2006 Donny released his debut album entitled, What It Takes, and as described above, let its accomplishment speak for itself. He wrote along with a few others, all songs on the CD. Its a super country album containing 12 songs, while at present, one of it's songs entitled, Father Time is climbing the country charts.

* Donny has been touring Canada all summer and now heading to Regina for the CCMA week-end where he will be showcasing and performing on the Live TV's Awards Show.

He is selected as of the top 24 songwriters to showcase during the CCMA's

* Donny knows WHAT IT TAKES to be successful in the Canadian Music Industry.

Update December 2011:

With an unprecedented 18 music award nominations between April 2007 and December 2007 he became the highest nominated musician of any genre in Canada over a 9-month period.

In Feb 2008 he won his first ever Juno nomination .In 2008 he won 7 SCMA Awards out of 9 nominations. In the 12 month period, April 2007 to April 2008 he received an astonishing 28 music nominations taking home 14 awards. A point of interest, Donny accomplished all his awards without record labels, without booking agents and without the video protocols that are often assumed in the music industry.
