Meet Bluestreak, Bluegrass Band from P.E.I. They just won on November ASBluestreakProfilePicture.jpg 20, 2004, seven Music awards in Charlottetown at the P.E.I. Music Awards. They won: New Group-Music Group-Male Artist (Larry Campbell)-Songwriter (Larry Campbell)-Album of the Year (First Impresion)-Bluegrass Recording of The Year-Song of The Year (You're Not Alone). The group was formed as Bluestreak back in January 2004 and in May of 2004 they decided to put a CD together and as a result First Impression CD was produced.

The group said it was nice to get together and the personalities along with the tastes in music all match. They always look forward to do the next show or writing a new song. Meet the Band:

ASBluestreakshowcasingatPEIAwardsNov2004.jpg Larry Campbell does lead vocals and plays guitar. Larry always enjoyed playing bluegrass music. He played bass for 6 years and sang harmony for PEI Award winning entertainer, Roy MacCaull. He does some writing, and was involved with 5 of the songs on the CD. He lives with his family in Graham's Road, P.E.I.

Roger Wightman, plays banjo and is a baritone vocalist. He played bluegrass music for a number of years and was a founder member of the bluegrass band, Out of The Blue. He contributed 3 written songs on the CD. He resides in Montaque.

Andy Paynter plays mandolin guitar is is a tenor vocalist. He played for 25 years lead guitar in country/rock bands and is also a very able drummer. He and his family live in Summerside.

Darral O'Regan plays dobro and harmonica. He was born in Cape Breton, however he settled in Montaque, P.E.I. in 2002 and he was very much in demand for his musical talents with many musicians. He is now very pleased to be a member of Bluestreak.

David Blue plays bass and lives in Little Sands, P.E.I. As the youngest member of Bluestreak, he's the one with the most bluegrass experience. He performed with his parents from age 11 until 1989 in their band, Blades of Grass. The bass he plays with, is the one that was owned by Don Messer's member, Duke Nielson. It was made in Germany in 1708.

This band is on the move, and are now awaiting word from the ECMA's for any nominations, to be announced December 14. For further information regarding the band and their music refer to their website, address posted above.

The ECMA 2005 Nominees were announced today, and BLUESTREAK was nominated for the BLUEGRASS RECORDING OF THE YEAR (FIRST IMPRESSION)
