released his 8th Album entitled, Harvest Highway on October 13, 2023.
Jimmy was a member of the famous group from Mabou, Cape Breton
The Rankin Family who had major success in the 1990's. After
disbanding as a group, Jimmy went solo and went on to have a very
successful music career singing, writing and touring everywhere.
This eleven-track album is a continuation of Rankin's last album,
Moving East-an homage to the East Coast.
These are the first full-length albums that he recorded in his home
Province with fellow Nova Scotian, Joel Plaskett.
Musicians on the album are:
JP Cormier - Ronald Hynes - Dale Murray and Jordan Murphy.
Harvest Highway is a captivating showcase of Jimmy's versality as a
songwriter, weaving a tapestry of tales and emotions that range from
profound love and yearning to introspection and unwavering strength.
Here are the song titles:
Harvest Highway - Irish Red - Sue St. Marie - Merasheen Farewell
Peggy Gordon - Doors of Assisi - Drunk or Sober - Our Time is Tonight
Missing At The Somme - Banks of Sicily - One Direction
All songs were written by Jimmy except, Missing At The Somme,
One Direction, Peggy Gordon and Banks of Sicily.
Teaming up with fellow East Coast hero Joel Plaskett-who produced
and played multiple instruments on Harvest Highway-Rankin
established the earthy, down-home sound that serves his latest records
so well, taking full advantage of Plaskett's analog approach at Fang
Recording in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia.
Atlantic Seabreeze gives this album high credits and rates it at a five
star rating out of 5 stars.
