Cape Breton Music Artist Bruce Guthro Passes Away

on September 5, 2023 of cancer at age 62.

Bruce was a Canadian singer/songwriter born in Cape Breton

and lived in Hammonds Plains, Nova Scotia.

Bruce has recorded as a solo artist, and was a lead singer for

the Scottish Celtic Rock Band, Runrig from 1998 until the band

retired in 2018.Guthro throughout his career, received 9 ECMA

Awards and 1 Canadian Radio Music Award.

H released 7 albums from 1994 to 2012.

He hosted and conceptualized the Canadian TV Show

Songwriters Circle, on which guests included Jim Cuddy,

Colin James and Alan Doyle (of the Canadian Band, Great Big Sea).

Guthro is also the father of musicians Dylan and Jodi Guthro. He

co-produced Dylan's award-winning 2012 debut album,

All That's True, with Dave Gunning and co-wrote five of the album's

songs.
