ASRayGriffathomeinCalgary.jpgRemembering Canadian Pioneer of Country Music RAY GRIFF who passed away on March 9, 2016 at age 75 of pneumonia following surgery.

Ray was an entertainer, producer, publisher, songwriter, singer and music artist

Ray wrote and published over 2000 songs. More than 700 of his songs were recorded by many renowned artists, such as Eddy Arnold, George Hamilton 1V, Johnny Horton, Ferlin Husky, Stonewall Jackson, George Jones, Jerry Lee Lewis, Hank Locklin, Loretta Lynn, Dolly Parton, Ray Price, Charlie Pride, Del Reeves, Jim Reeves, Marty Robbins, Hank Snow, Mel Tillis, Conway Twitty, Gene Watson, Faron Young, Slim Whitman and hundreds more.

Ray recorded more than 30 albums.

He hosted 2 TV shows: Good Time Country and Up-town Country

He received a Socan Lifetime Achievement Award

He received a star on Nashville Hall of Fame Walkway

He is an Inductee into Alberta's Country Music Hall of Fame

He was inducted into the Canadian Country Music Hall of Fame in 1989 and The Canadian Music Hall of Fame

Ray had 48 singles in the top 100

He recorded 19 vinyl albums and 19 CD's

He toured Canada and United States

He had 20 self-produced International hits

He began writing songs at age 14 and his first hit was PATCHES in 1970 and peaked at #26 on the charts

He received 85 ASAP and BMI citations for his writings
