whose career spanned decades died at age 73 after a battle with COVID-19 virus.
He passed away in a Nashville Hospital where he was hospitalized on March 26
with all the symptoms of the virus. His wife Fiona also contacted the virus but
recovered.
Legend music artist Kris Kristofferson discovered John and got him signed to a record label.
John released a self-titled album in 1971 and the rest is history. The album was received with
widespread critical acclaim. The most beloved songs on the album were, Illegal Smile, Paradise, Angel From Montgomery,
You Never Even Called Me By Name, a song co-written with Steve Goodman, and several others.
He created his own record label in 1984 called Oh Boy Records.
He released a string of albums in the 70 & 80's and toured extensively North America and beyond.
He released his last album in 2018 entitled, The Tree of Forgiveness and his career revived
as one of the forefather of the Americana movement.
John had a bout with cancer in 1999 and 2013 and had heart surgery in 2019.
He cancelled an upcoming show in April due to a hip injury.
