Ray Griff Country Singer Passes Away at 75

Itis with great sadness to inform all my viewers, that Legendary Canadian Country Music Artist, Ray Griff has passed away at age 75 on March 6, 2016. This was a sudden death, as he was in hospital and he died from aspiration pneumonia following minor rotator cuff surgery.

Ray had battled throat cancer for a number of years and was unable to sing anymore.

Here are some of his career highlites:

-Written and or recorded more country hits than any other Canadian songwriter in history

-Hosted his own Network TV Shows Goodtime Country and Up-town Country and his classic country music radio show, Raymond's Place running for 8 Years ending Jan 31, 2016.

-Ray charted some 24 songs on The Billboard Country Hit Charts

-He released 30 albums, and has written 2500 songs, some of which recorded by many of Nashville's top recording artists.

-His songs have earned 7 BMI Citations as some 47 ASCAP awards.

-Ray is among the few Canadian Artists to be honoured with a Star in Nashville's Walkway of Stars.

-Ray was inducted into the Canadian Country Music Hall of Fame in 1989.

-In 1998 he was inducted into the Canadian Country Music Hall of Honour

-In 2008 Ray became the first Country Songwriter ever to receive the SOCAN LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT AWARD.

-In 2015 Ray was inducted in the Alberta Country Music Hall of Fame

Ray was born in Vancouver, BC and raised in Winfield, Alberta and recently made their home in Vancouver, BC.

Details of Ray's funeral have not been announced to date.
