Regeneration Musicale, a french album was just released on April 30, 2015. The album is a unique compilation of 13 Nova Scotian artists offering contemporary of traditional Acadian songs.

Each song on the compilation showcases the artists from a variety of musical backgrounds putting their own spin on historical Acadian cultural touchstones.

Regeneration Musicale is a community based project that not only allows us to celebrate our Acadian musical heritage and traditional culture, but it also allows to update it and carry it forward in time, says Martin Theberge, Executive Director of la Federation culturelle acarienne de la Nouvelle-Ecosse.

The album began by engaging members of Acadian communities throughout Nova Scotia to draft a long list of traditional Acadian songs. Through conversations with a variety of people in places such as Clare, Cheticamp, Greenwood, Dartmouth and Yarmouth, an assembled list of 60 such songs.

Following an application process, 13 artists were chosen to participate in the community-drivenproject and asked to choose tracks from the long list. The recording sessions took place at Meganova Music Studios in Dartmouth with Scott Ferguson (The rankin Family.

The artists involved with the project were: CY-Nathalie Ladouceur-Nicole LeBlanc-Ouiet Parade-Marc Lacelles-Joelle Desy-Mary Beth de Scene-Michelle Deveau-JonahMeltWave avec Just Love Peace-Boudreau/Vanier-Sonia Losier-Mikael Viktor-Sylvie Boulanne. Many musicians helped with the music such as, Brian Melanson, Jean Pascal Comeau, and Daniel LeBlance from the group, Grande Derangement.
