Carlton Showband Raises Roof in Summerside

The Carlton Showband, one of Canada's best loved band., raised the roof in Summerside, P.E.I. at Harbourfront Jubilee Theatre.

The band one of the most successful groups in the country didn't let their fans down. The group is made up of: Fred White, Aaron Lewis, Robert Benoit, Larris Benoit, Roddie Lee and Gregory Donaghey.

Originally the band began in 1964, and about 15 members came and went through the years. Fred White with roots in Cape Breton is the only original member of the group, since 1964, 48 years ago.

Fred and the original group were a household name on CTV TV when they were the musical group on the show, Pig and Whistle which was one of the most watched TV show during its time and lasted 11 seasons 1967-1978.

The band performed for 32 years, 1964-1996, took a hiatus for 14 years and re-grouped in 2010, with a Canadian wide tour in 2010 and a mini 5 city tour in March 2012.

The outstanding show featured many songs from the past, comedy skits, musical numbers and looking back on the bands history. This show was the 5th in a series of six tour date, which winds down in Peterborough, Ont St. Patricks day, March 17.
