Jamie Spurvey, a 21 year old country singer/songwriter originally from Newfoundland claimed top honours in the inaugural Havelock Country Idol contest. Jamie Spurvey wowed the judges, all veteran music industry professionals, and the audience with his performance at the Havelock Belmont-Methuen Community Centre Aug. 13.

The event raised $5,000first time running this kind of specialized event and we are already planning for next year! said Catherine Holt, who handles communications for CMH Foundation.

Jamie, originally from Newfoundland, earned numerous standing ovations, especially for his rendition of Roy Payne's hugely patriotic I Wouldn't Take a Million Dollars for a Single Maple Leaf, Ms. Holt said. It had us in tears (and) gave you shivers up your spine.

In addition to having MDM Records digitally master and release one of his singles worldwide, Jamie will also perform this Sunday at the Havelock Jamboree which features the likes of Martina McBride, Johnny Reid, Billy Currington and Tommy Hunter.

Jamie will also be performing at the Joseph R. Smallwood Arts and Culture Centre in Gander, NL on Wednesday 24 August as a special guest on the Averil Baker and Friends Fundraiser for VON Broadening Horizons.

Feel free to contact Harold Spurvey at 709-651-4654 for further information or via email dhspurvey@nf.sympatico.ca.
