By John Gavin, Wednesday, February 25, 2004

Celtae, one of Canada's most energetic, young Celtic bands have just released theirASCeltaeCDCeltaePicture.jpg debut album entitled, Regrets. The band with 3 members from Atlantic Canada and one from Sudbury are creating a stir with their musical performances and with the release of their debut CD. Band members Nathan MacDonald is from Glace Bay, Cape Breton, Tyree Lush is from Gambo, Newfoundland, Matt Holland is from P.E.I. and Dana Arrowsmith is from Sudbury, Ontario.

They were inspired by the rich heritage of Celtic music found on Canada's East Coast and by the strength of the modern Celtic cultural scene, Celtae mixes the old songs and tunes with new self-penned material to create a unique, high-energy sound. Celtae plays a fusion of ancient and modern instruments: fiddle, button accordian, bass, bodhran, guitars and whistles.

Here are the song titles: No Regrets-Donald MacGillavry-Dana Wears The Pants-Merchant Manne-Margaret's Mayhem-Rocky Road To Dublin-KillerCod-20 or 30 Days At Sea-The Clumsy Lover-John MacLeod and George Mel's Dream. Besides the band performing on the album some additional musicians were added: Jules Sisk-Brian Talbot-John MacPhee-Ryan MacNeil-Mike Shepherd and Davy Melvin.

Atlantic Seabreeze rates this fine CD a full 5 Star Rating. This CD must be one of the top Celtic Albums to come to our attention in recent years. It has ECMA nominations written all over it, John Gavin, Publisher of Atlantic Seabreeze notes.
