Cormier's original works are largely comprised of acoustic guitar that highlights a contemporary, modern approach to otherwise classic sounds. His virtuosic talent as at a young age he masterfully performs styles as diverse as jazz, blues, folk, classical and traditional Celtic music.
Maxim's life long journey in music is one that started early and he shines on his new album, Maxim Cormier 2. The album was released on May 20, 2014 and recorded at Studio FMP in Dartmouth, N.S.
The album features the music of J.S. Bach, Leo Brouwer, Miles Davis, Jerry Holland and Dino Olivieri as well as several original compositions and collaborations with his father, Gervais Cormier.
Cormier's talent has been featured at The Celtic Colours Festival and collaborated with Grammy Award winning Gordie Sampson. He was awarded the Drive'ers Association Big Simple Award which gave him 6 days of studio time at Lakewind studio which resulted in some winners and nominations.
He was winner of the Instrumential of the Year at the International Acoustic Music Awards in 2014.
He won the Francophone Recording of the Year at Music Nova Scotia Awards 2013.
He was nominee for Traditional Instrumental Recording of the Year at ECMA 2014.
He was nominee for Solo Instrumental Artist of the Year at the 2013 Canadian Folk Music Awards.
He was nominated for Roots/Traditional Recording of the Year at Music NovaScotia Awards 2013.
