June 9, 1962 - 59 Years Ago Today: Bobby Vinton had the Hot Shot Debut at No. 68 on the Billboard Hot 100 Chart with his single, Roses Are Red (My Love). This Al Byron and Paul Evans-penned single was Vinton's chart debut and it became his first chart-topper when it began a 4-week run at No. 1 on July 14, 1962. The single also enjoyed a 4-week run at No. 1 on the Billboard AC chart and was certified Gold. This was the first of 44 singles Vinton scored on the Hot 100 through 1980 which included 30 Top 40's, 9 Top Tens and 4 No. 1's. Roses Are Red (My Love), remains Vinton's best-charted single.
