Gillian Head CD Tidal In Review
ECMA 2019 Nominated For Instrumental Recording of The Year

ASGillianHeadCDTidal.jpgGillian Head, is a fiddler from New Waterford, Nova Scotia.

She is bright and lively;yet powerful and gritty and her style is distinctive.

She has just been nominated for an ECMA 2019 Award for Instrumental Recording of the year. Gillian took lessons fromthe late fiddler, Jerry Holland who had a tremendous impact on her playing and approach to music.

Her new CD is entitled, Tidal, includes not only traditional Cape Breton tunes but some of her own as well. Almost half of the tracks include at least one of Gillian's tunes.Musicians on the CD include, Jason Roach and Mary Beth Carty with guest appearances by Colin Grant and Donnie Calabrese.

The CD was produced by Gillian and recorded, mixed, and mastered by Jamie Foulds at Soundtrack Studios.

Gillian does an outstanding job on the CD and Atlantic Seabreeze gives the CD a 5 star rating out of 5 stars.

Her fiddle playing has taken her all around Cape Breton and the U.S.

Her debut album, Spirit in 2014 was nominated for MusicNova Scotia's Traditional/Roots album of the year in 2015.

Jack Baker of Irish American news said, not just another Cape Breton fiddler..a totally new sound;innoviative, complex and completely lovely.
