Scotty suffered with Diabetes, and he recently had a stroke which hospitalized him for a period of weeks, recovered and went home, but recently returned to hospital , with another problem, and then returned home to recover, but wasn't to be.
Scotty was born in Horwood, Newfoundland and it was there he mastered several instruments such as fiddle, guitar, mouth organ and others. He moved to Toronto, Ontario some years ago. He was a regular in the TV show, At The Matador, hosted his own show Country Time, toured the Nashville Circuit and played with such greats as Kenny Rogers, Conway Twitty, Gordon Lightfoot and Roy Clark.
Scotty has 7 releases and his first video written by Scotty played the Nashville Network for 17 weeks.
In 1991 he met Linda who was born in Hay River in N.W.T. and later married. They formed Silver Wings, a popular Country duo and performed regularly throughout the Toronto Area as most recently in early 2016. Together they brought talent, harmony and experience to new and old country music, a sound that is music to the ears.
In August 2012, Linda and Scotty received the Rural Roots Music Commission (RRMC) CD Award of the year in Iowa, USA. The CD was entitled, Cause I Love You, written by Linda and Produced by Scotty.
Funeral arrangements are as follows:
Friends will be received at the Ward Funeral Home 4671 Highway N0 7, Woodbridge (just west of Pine Valley Drive) on Sunday from 6-9 pm, and on Monday from 2-4 and 6-9 pm. A funeral service will be celebrated on Tuesday August 2nd, 2016 at 11:00 am in the Ward Funeral Home Chapel.
