Hank Williams Remembered On His Birthday Sept 17

Born on September 17, 1923-Passed Away Jan 1, 1953

Hank Williams was one of Country Music Giants, and was the Greatest Composers in Country Music History. He was one of America's first Country music Superstars.

Hank was born with a spinal condition called spina bifida. He turned to alcohol and drugs such as morphine to overcome his pain. He married Audrey Sheppard in 1944 and had a son Hank Jr. in 1949. Audrey performed in his band for awhile and were divorced in 1952. He later married Billy Jean in 1952. As well he was fired from The Grand Ole Opry in 1952 due to his drunkeness.

In late 1951 Hank suffered a minor heart attack in Florida, but recovered. However on Jan 1, 1953, he passed away in the back seat of his powder blue 1952 cadillac of a major heart attack.

Hank left an incredible amount of songs, which are popular to this very day, many sung by others namely:

Hey Good Lookin'-Your Cheating Heart-I'm So Lonesome, I Could Cry-Cold Cold Heart-Mind Your Own Business-Lovesick Blues-Jambalaya-Move It On Over-Kaw-Liga-There's A Tear in My Beer and countless others.

Hank was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 1961 and into the Rock & Roll Hall of fame in 1987. He also was awarded a special Citation for his songwriting in 2010.

Hank will always be remembered by his millions of country music fans throughout the world.
