A Six-Time Recipient of The CCMA, Male Vocalist of The Year

On This Day, February 23, 2015 Terry's First No 1 Country Music Single was, SPARKLE IN HER EYES in 1980. Terry passed away on May 22, 2005 in Ottawa at 63 years old of cancer.

Here are some facts about his career:

* Was a six-time receipent of the Canadian Country Music Assoc. for Male Vocalist of the Year (1980-86) holding the record for most wins ever as CCMA'S Male Vocalist.

*He earned the CCMA'S Songwriter of the Year for his song, Counting The Love You's.

* Named Top Male Vocalist in the RPM Big Country Awards in 1980-81 and 1987.

* Nominated for a Juno Award 4 times

*In 1989 he was inducted into the Ottawa Valley Country Hall of Fame and in 2006 he was inducted into the Canadian Country Hall of Fame

* In 1971 he teamed up with Bruce Rawlins, a songwriter and they have wrote hundreds of songs, and many artists recorded their songs including The Mercey Brothers, Carroll Baker, Marie Bottrell, Ralph Carlson, Colin Butler, Lucille Starr and many others. In fact, The Mercey Brothers recorded in 1979, 22 of Terry's and Bruce's written songs on their album. Other artists such as Nashville artists, Bill Anderson, Charlie Louvin and Australia artist, Allen Hawking used their songs on their albums.

* In 1989, the album , That Was A Long Time Ago, was Terry's last album. His long-time writing partner, Bruce Rawlins had passed away in 1987. Terry made guest appearances on the Ottawa Valley music scene and continued to write songs with Jim Cass and found a new interest as a dog breeder with his wife, Aija.

* The Bow Park in Nepean was renamed , TERRY CARISSE PARK in September 2006.
