Don Harron (Charlie Farquharson) Dies at 90
Starred on HEE-HAW For 18 Seasons

Don Harron age 90 who protrayed the character of Charlie Farguharson has passed away on January 17 with his family at his side. He at life's end died of cancer. He retired 2 years ago and donated his sweater and cap to The Canadian Arts Museum.

Here are some of his achievements of Don's Life:

* Wrote the lyrics of Anne of Green Gables, THe Musical which has been performed annually in Charlottetown since 1965 to present.

*Directed the 1956 TV Film Anne of Green Gables

*Starred in the US Variety Country Music Show HEE-HAW for 18 years.

*Named a Member of The ORDER OF CANADA IN 1980.

*Named a Member of The Order of Ontario in 2000.

*In 1997 he received the Gemini Award for lifetime achievement & TV.

*He was an actor, writer, comic and producer. He played active roles at Stratford Festival in 1952, performed at London's West End and on Broadway.

*Host of CBC's Morningside from 1977-1982

*Don aurthored 17 books most as Charlie Farquharson.

*He wrote his most revealing work in 2012,. He published a 440 page memoir (My Double Life:Sexy Years of Farquharson Around with Don Harron)

*Don was married 4 times with his most recent wife, Claudette Gareau. He had been married 34 years with Catherine McKinnon and divorced in 2003.

*Don is survived by Gareau and his 3 daughters. One of his daughters Mary Harron is following Don into show business.
